Shoretech Marine was incorporated in 2013, but our local design/build ownership history goes back to 1999 when Waterside Construction was formed in Trinity Country, Texas. The company started out as “Heck of a Deck” back in 1996 as a deck building company. The projects moved out to the water in 1999 when it was hired to build a large shoreline pier. Waterside Construction grew to over 35 employees on 15 acres, and was sold in 2011.
The owner Dave Thomson has been working in construction design & engineering since the late 1970’s, starting out in the piping and structural divisions for Brown & Root along the Houston Ship Channel. Dave eventually became a well-traveled piping and pile-support designer which eventually brought him to Alaska in 1987.
He worked in Alaska for Fluor Daniels and H.C. Price along the Aleutian Islands and the North Slope until 1993. Dave was hired by Martech Engineering and after two years they decided to create a marine division and put Dave in charge of it as Superintendent, then Marine Division Manager. So there is a long rich history of construction experience at the helm of this business, and the last 20 years of it has been back on shorelines in Texas.
