What this website collects, and why.
In plain English: the contact form sends your details to Dave by email, and the site counts visitors so we can tell which pages are useful. Here is exactly what that involves.
When you send us your details.
The contact form asks for your name, a phone number or email address, and — only if you choose to give them — the project location, project type, water type, an approximate budget, a timeline and a description of the project.
When you press send, those details are emailed to Dave Thomson at Dave@shoretechmarine.com through our email delivery service, Resend. The website itself does not keep a copy. If you gave an email address, it is set as the reply-to address so Dave can answer you directly.
We use what you send only to reply to you and to talk about your project. We do not sell it.
If you call or email Dave directly instead, nothing passes through the website at all.
How we count visitors.
Google Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. It uses cookies to do this, and records things like the pages you view, how you arrived at the site, your device and browser, and your approximate location. We look at this as totals and trends.
Google collects and processes this information under its own policies, which it explains in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. If you would rather not be counted, Google offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every website, or you can block cookies in your browser's settings.
Our host's own statistics. The site is hosted by Vercel, which also counts visits and measures how quickly pages load. Vercel's visitor count does not use cookies: it recognises a visit from details of the request and discards that after 24 hours, and it keeps only totals — pages viewed, where visitors came from, their country or city, and the type of device and browser.
The only cookies on this site.
Google Analytics is the only thing on this website that sets cookies as you browse. The site's own code sets none, and there are no advertising cookies. The one other exception is YouTube, and only if you choose to play a video — see below.
You can view, block or delete cookies at any time in your browser's settings. Blocking them does not stop any part of this site from working, including the contact form.
Videos load only when you press play.
The construction videos on this site are shown as a still picture with a play button. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press it. When you do, the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, and from that point YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that video.
Hosting, links, and changes.
Hosting. Like any web host, Vercel keeps standard technical records of requests to the site — such as the IP address, browser and page requested — for a short time, to keep the site running and protect it from abuse.
Links to other websites. The site links to our Facebook page and YouTube channel. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you are there.
Children. This website is for people planning waterfront construction. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Changes. If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
